Difficulty Picker

Dungeon Quest Reborn uses five difficulties on each dungeon: Easy, Medium, Hard, Insane, Nightmare, plus an optional Hardcore overlay. The create panel will let you click a skull the moment the level gate opens. That click is not permission from the Sand Giant. This picker is.

Use it after the stat planner. A correct class on the wrong skull is still a wipe.

Step 0 — Can you enter?

If the dungeon is grey, you fail the level gate. Follow how to level up. Do not buy a gamepass to skip a number the UI already stated.

Step 1 — Did you finish the previous skull three times?

Last three runsNext click
All finished with time leftTry the next difficulty
Finished but messyStay, fix heals and speed skills
Timed out or wipedDrop one difficulty
Never attempted previousDo not skip ahead

Three is enough data. One lucky Easy is not a Nightmare license.

Step 2 — Match the floor’s job

  • Easy — learn rooms. Desert Temple classroom. No Hardcore.
  • Medium — test the loadout. First real drops.
  • Hard — farm while you still think. Good daily floor.
  • Insane — bring a heal. Inner Rage / Focus start to matter.
  • Nightmare — group or a proven solo kit. Read Hardcore before you also tick one-life.

Winter Outpost and later banners follow the same ladder. The names change; the rule does not.

Step 3 — Hardcore overlay?

Ask all five:

  1. Two clean finishes on this skull already?
  2. Weapon matches class (Warrior / Mage)?
  3. Heal in the bar or a Healer in the party?
  4. Extra drop actually useful on the tier list?
  5. Nobody in the party is new to the boss?

If any answer is no, leave Hardcore off. Extra loot on a voided run is zero loot. Gold math: gold farming.

Step 4 — Party size

Solo: pick a skull you can complete with your four slots. See controls.
Duo/trio: you can step up one skull if someone heals.
Four: Nightmare becomes reasonable, Hardcore becomes a contract.
Random 40-player lobby: treat them as solo until they dodge one telegraph.

Worked calls

Call A: New account, Desert Temple, never seen Sand Giant. Easy, Hardcore off. Go play getting started.

Call B: Three Medium finishes, Whirlwind plus a heal, 12 minutes left each time. Hard next. Daily claim after the first success — daily rewards.

Call C: Nightmare wipes twice, Insane is free. Stay Insane. Pride is not XP.

Call D: Enchanted Forest visible, S-tier weapons still missing, Insane is free, party of four who have the boss on muscle memory. Nightmare Hardcore is allowed. Read weapons so you know what you are hunting.

After the run

If you won easily, tick the next skull next time. If you won with one player down, stay. If you lost, drop. Updates can retune health — check updates before you assume last week’s Easy is still Easy.

No codes unlock difficulties. The picker is the feature. Use it in the lobby, then press Start like you mean the click.
